Fred Nostrant, DVM

Fred Nostrant, DVM

Dr. Fred Nostrant grew up on a farm in northern California where he was involved in 4-H and his family’s Quarter horse breeding operation. He became interested in equine veterinary medicine during his college years at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Dr. Nostrant graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and then completed an internship at an elite sport horse practice in Connecticut where he focused on lameness and general medicine. Dr. Nostrant started North Bridge Equine to focus on his interest in the diagnosis and treatment of complex lameness issues in the equine athlete and help both horse and rider meet their performance goals.

In 2018 and 2019 Dr Nostrant was invited to serve as the Team Veterinarian for the USA Dressage European Young Rider Tour. Team USA was represented by the US's top three horse and young rider pairs who traveled and competed around Europe for 8 weeks. The Euorpean Young Rider Tour culminated in the CDIOY Nations Cup competition at Hoff Kassleman in Hagen, Germany where the top young rider teams from around the world competed for top honors. Dr Nostrant was honored to have been selected and throughly enjoyed working with these exceptional young athletes. The European Young Rider Tour was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, but Dr Nostrant is hopeful to again serve as the Team vet for the Young Rider Tour in the future.

Dr. Nostrant lives on a farm in Concord, Massachusetts with his wife, Erin Renfroe, who is an accomplished upper level Eventing rider and trainer. Along with their many horses on the farm they have four dogs and 3 cats. Erin spends her winters training in Aiken, SC and Fred travels back and forth to Aiken in the winter to work on horses and do some riding himself.

Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. Nostrant enjoys spending time on his tractor tending to the farm and working on his small collection of vintage Volkswagens. He is currently restoring a 1972 Super Beetle.

Stephanie Shen, DVM

Stephanie Shen, DVM

Dr. Stephanie Shen graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and subsequently completed an intensive one year internship at The Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey.    Stephanie practiced high quality performance medicine in Bucks County Pennsylvania prior to moving back to her home state of Massachusetts to join North Bridge Equine Associates.    Stephanie has a strong interest in sports medicine with an emphasis on soundness management,  injury prevention and whole horse wellness.   She has a special passion for ophthalmology and enjoys diagnosing and managing ophthalmic cases with the aim of vision preservation and long term comfort.   Stephanie studied acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Florida and incorporates it as an adjunct to more conventional sports medicine practices and therapeutics for a more whole-listic approach to equine health and soundness.

Stephanie values creating mutually trusting relationships with her clients and patients that allow for optimized management of each horse’s health and well being.

Stephanie has put down roots and is grateful to be in Massachusetts with her husband and closer to her family. Stephanie and her husband share two beautiful and energetic children who take up most of their free time.   Outside of work Stephanie CrossFit training and spending time with her family.

Laura Parisio- Wood BVetMed MRCVS, CVMMP

Laura Parisio- Wood BVetMed MRCVS, CVMMP

Dr. Parisio-Wood grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York State.  After riding lessons began around the age of twelve, the desire to be around horses never stopped!  She completed four years at Alfred University in western New York, graduating with a bachelor degree in biology and a minor in Equine Science.  The following year, she was accepted into the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London.  During the intense 5 year program that followed, she further developed her interest in pursuing a career specifically in equine medicine.  There was no denying that she also came to love travel, taking small excursions throughout Europe whenever possible.  Upon graduation, Dr. Parisio returned home to New York to begin an internship year at Rhinebeck Equine.  This experience gave her a broad range of exposure to different aspects of equine practice, from surgery to ambulatory medicine.  The following summer, an opportunity arose to complete a second internship year at The New Jersey Equine Clinic in Millstone New Jersey.  It was here that she developed a greater interest in sport horse medicine, having the chance to work with racehorses, eventers, dressage and even some western sport athletes.   At the completion of this second internship, Dr. Parisio joined Colts Head Veterinary Services (now Coastal Elite Veterinary Services).  During the past decade, she has developed her love of preventative medicine, promoting wellness in her equine patients through a focus on dentistry, nutrition, and disease prevention.  She has also developed a particular interest in podiatry, often working alongside farriers to trouble-shoot lameness issues localized within the foot as well as treating challenging cases of laminitis.   Most recently, Dr. Parisio completed the spinal manipulation course at IVMI through the Chi Institute in Florida.  This additional training has given her a different perspective into lameness diagnostics and has proven to be an invaluable tool in helping the horse to feel their best.

When not around the horses, she enjoys hiking, travel and cooking with family and friends.

Dr. Parisio now looks forward to exploring the beautiful state of Massachusetts with her husband and two young children. She is very excited to join the North Bridge Equine team and meeting all of you!

Kari was born and raised in Hampton, Connecticut. She began taking riding lessons at the age of 13. She began to work at the barn to pay for more lessons and gain more horse knowledge. This was the theme all through high school and college. She earned her bachelors of science from The University of Connecticut in 2002 worked as an equine veterinary technician for ten years prior to expanding into practice management at North Bridge Equine. She owns one horse who is loved and doted on by her parents in the family's backyard, along with two dogs, and three cats.

Sheena Kaleshian, Veterinary Technician

Sheena Kaleshian, Veterinary Technician

Sheena grew up in Belmont, MA and has had a love of horses for as long as she can remember. At a young age, she only wanted to attend summer camps with riding programs. She began taking private lessons in middle school, paying for them herself through high school. She joined the riding team in college and competed in the IHSA during her college career. After her sophomore and junior years, she taught riding lessons and basic horsemanship skills to kids 6-16 years old at a summer riding camp. Sheena graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science (Pre-Vet) with an equine focus. Four years after graduating, she took the VTNE and became a CVT. Since then, Sheena has been in referral and small animal general practice, working toward her passion of being back with horses full time. She is ecstatic to join the NBEA team to do just that!

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her husband and two young sons. She also has two cats that tolerate one another, Kaatje and Pixie.

After graduating high school, Allison jumped into the horse industry as a rider and trainer, and eventually managing and grooming for top hunter/jumper riders and their horses.
