Emergency Care
While we hope you never need to see us for an emergency you can rest assured that North Bridge Equine Associates is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to provide emergency care. Be it a colic, laceration, swollen eye, sudden onset lameness, or any other equine emergency your horse may experience, we are always available to provide emergency care. We understand an emergency can be a stressful time so we want to let you know how our system works:
- During normal business hours: Call 978-337-1260 and press 3 for the Emergency line . Your call will ring ring to one of our technicians who will discuss your horse’s situation and will contact one of our Doctors who will call you to make a plan for your horse..
- After normal business hours: Call 978-337-1260 and Press 3 for the Emergency line . You will be transferred to our answering service who will page the doctor on call. The doctor will call you back within 15-20 minutes (often much sooner than that). If you do not receive a call back within 15-20 minutes, please call back and ask the operator to page the doctor again.
- If you are not sure if your horse needs to be seen urgently, please feel free call to the emergency line and have the doctor on call paged. We are happy to discuss your horse’s situation and help determine if a visit is needed.
- North Bridge Equine requires an active Veterinary-Client-Patient relationship to provide emergency veterinary care. In order to maintain an active Veterinary-Client-Patient relationship, North Bridge Equine must have seen the client’s horse within the last 12 months for routine/wellness care and they must reside within the geographical practice area. If North Bridge Equine has not provided care to your horse(s) within the last 12 months, the Veterinary-Client-Patient relationship will be lapsed and emergency veterinary care may not be provided. North Bridge Equine utilizes an after-hours call service. The operator will take a brief message and page the doctor on call. You can expect a return phone call from the veterinarian on call within 15 minutes or less. Helpful information you can provide to the doctor when you call:
1. Horse's rectal temperature
2. Street address where horse is located
3. Phone number where you can be reached
