Parasite Control

North Bridge Equine recommends a targeted deworming approach to parasite control. This deworming protocol keeps your horse healthy while reducing the environmental impact and horse exposure to unnecessary medication in order to avoid drug resistance in the worm populations. We recommend biannual fecal egg counts (FEC) for quantification of GI parasites in order to personalize deworming to meet your horse’s needs. Most horses only require spring and fall deworming with an ivermectin/ praziquantal paste such as Equimax.
Remember: the best way to control GI parasites is to regularly muck stalls and pastures to decrease re-infection with worms.
